Current work focuses on social mobility and inequality, demography, gender, family, consumption and lifestyles, cultural practices, attitudes towards environmental issues, social networks, economic sociology, migration, the link between social sciences and genomics, political practices...

The Sociology Department welcomes and supervises doctoral students at CREST as part of the multidisciplinary doctoral school of the Paris Institute of Technology and the University of Paris-Saclay. It welcomes post-doctoral students and international visiting professors who give doctoral courses (see CREST website).

It is involved in the "Data science for Economics, Finance and Management" research school, a joint venture between IP Paris and HEC Paris. It interacts with researchers in sociology and economics at the École Polytechnique and Télécom Paris in the Department of Economics and Quantitative Social Sciences at the Institut Polytechnique de Paris. Within CREST, it interacts with the other departments, which share common methodologies in econometrics, statistics and data science. It is also involved in international research collaboration networks in quantitative sociology.
