Daniel TRUSKINOVSKY, 2A: Between a Passion for Mathematics and the Discovery of Social Sciences
What motivated you to join ENSAE Paris?
The applied mathematics in the fields of economics and finance greatly appealed to me, even though I wasn’t very familiar with these subjects. Additionally, I was drawn to the wide range of dual-degree programs and the campus location on the Saclay Plateau.
How would you describe the diversity of profiles in your cohort?
One of the most rewarding aspects of my experience at ENSAE Paris is the diversity of profiles in the cohort. There are students from scientific preparatory classes, economic and business tracks, literary backgrounds, and universities. This diversity fosters strong cohesion within the cohort, where everyone contributes a unique and enriching perspective.
What was your impression of the academic environment at ENSAE Paris?
From the very first days, I was exposed to high-quality faculty and had the opportunity to discover a variety of new disciplines, including economics and social sciences. For a student from a scientific background, this exposure is invaluable, as it helps develop a comprehensive understanding of contemporary challenges.
Can you tell us about the student life and associations at the school?
Student life at ENSAE Paris is constantly evolving, and everyone can find their place. Given the school’s small size, all motivated students can join the association of their choice without going through a selection process. This dynamic fosters interaction and connections, creating a friendly and stimulating environment.
Among the highlights of student life, the ski week is particularly intense and exhilarating. It marks the start of the BDE campaign, a key period for all students. As the Events Coordinator for the BDE, I had the opportunity to lead a team of six and build connections with other schools on the plateau. As the Vice President of the forum, I gained insights into the professional world and the career opportunities available after graduation, all while expanding my network.
What advice would you give to future candidates interested in ENSAE Paris?
For those with an interest in mathematics and a curiosity about economics or sociology, I would say that ENSAE Paris is an excellent choice. For MP-track students, even if you’re apprehensive about completely giving up physics, economic subjects offer similar modeling approaches and are just as fascinating. And for those worried about the level of mathematics, particularly students from PSI or PC tracks, there’s no need to worry: everything is designed to harmonize skill levels.
My journey at ENSAE Paris has been marked by a renewed passion for applied mathematics and the discovery of new disciplines. The diversity of profiles, the quality of the faculty, and the richness of student life have made this an unforgettable academic and human adventure. For those who share this curiosity and thirst for knowledge, ENSAE Paris provides the perfect environment to thrive and prepare for a promising future.
