This new educational partnership applies to the Master of science and technology (MScT) Data and economics for public policy, scheduled to start in 2023. By participating in this Master's program, the Direction de la recherche, des études, de l'évaluation et des statistiques (DREES), part of the French Ministries of Health and Prevention, Solidarités, Autonomie et Personnes handicapées, aims to contribute to the training of future experts capable of evaluating and informing public policy.
The MScT Data and economics for public policy is a new course at the interface of data science and economic analysis, dedicated to the design and evaluation of public policies. This Master's program brings together the École polytechnique, GENES (part of ENSAE Paris) and Télécom Paris - part of the Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris). These institutions bring together their talents in economics, econometrics and data science, as well as their experience in training engineers and senior civil servants.
The aim of the Master's program is to give students the tools they need to develop evaluation-based solutions, as well as the knowledge and understanding they need to reform and improve public policies, with an emphasis on quantitative methods of framing, analysis and problem-solving.
Thanks to this partnership, DREES will be offering internships and case studies to students in the program; it will host an intern (in the second year of the program) and finance a scholarship for a student selected on social criteria, for the start of the 2023 and 2024 academic years. Last but not least, it will be involved in the Master's courses and project groups.
